![]() I am one of the lucky ones and wish I could give some advice on how to heal like I did, but I can’t. I had no symptoms before it happened, but I own a gym and was in great shape, which they say may have helped me recover. I don't really know of anyone who was as lucky as me, but I am sure they exist. From what I have learned about this, I will never understand how I recovered so quick and with all my faculties intact. I can walk, talk, play my drums and do everything I did before. It has been 5 weeks, I have been home for 2 weeks, and I feel normal. Other than feeling weak at times and getting a headache every now and then I am fine. ![]() Miraculously I was out of the hospital in 2 weeks and spent 6 days in rehab. I suffered what was called a catastrophic brain aneurism, and should have died on the spot. I really think I’ve self-diagnosed my problem by reading all of the forum messages. I have had all kinds of tests at the doctor’s and two different ERs and they all came back fine! I was researching my symptoms for about the hundredth time and saw this page on costochondritis. Wrong! In three weeks’ time I started having the attacks and swelling again! I thought maybe a stone was stuck in my bile duct but liver tests came back fine. I had my gallbladder taken out hoping that this would solve everything. I went to the emergency room (ER) and then to my gastroenterologist who diagnosed me with a diseased gallbladder and stones. For a long time I thought it was an effect of my GERD. Last May 2018 the attacks got worse with the pain and I noticed that my upper abdomen would swell, especially after I eat. doi:10.1017/ have been dealing with acute upper abdominal pain that radiates to my back and left shoulder on and off for about 10 years.
